Hello everyone and Happy New Year! This blog post is the first one of 2023. Today also happens to be my birthday. To celebrate it, I want to share with you my participation in a recent discussion panel commemorating one hundred years of petroleum production in Venezuela (1922-2022). I had the chance to reflect on this milestone by focusing on the key role that corporate social responsibility played in the Venezuelan hydrocarbon sector and the main contributions that American and British oil companies like Shell, Jersey Standard, and others made for the benefit of the country and its citizens (minutes 50-1.08).
