We continue with the publication of new biographical entries! This time I want to share with you my latest bio for the Texas Handbook of Dallas-Fort Worth. It is about a successful African American businessman called Charles Brackins. He was an insurance executive, builder and philanthropist from Dallas who participated in the construction of many iconic infrastructures in the city like the Majestic Theater. Brackins was also a Civil Rights Movement political activist that got involved with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Brackins particularly fought against racial bans in Democratic Party primaries during the 1940s. Enjoy!
